Closing the gap between scholarly knowledge and practice: Guidelines for HRM action research

In this paper we review the current use of action research in field Human Resource Management (HRM), and assess its potential contribution to field. We show that is very suitable for theory development excels developing scholarly knowledge informs practitioners relevant specific contexts. Although only a handful HRM papers label their as (from our nine journals between 2000 2019), they substantially contribute by explaining role context dynamic nature design, implementation evaluation showing effectiveness systemic interventions. offer guidelines conducting projects, emphasizing importance involving stakeholders, rigorously making notes process reflexivity on interests both researchers practitioners.
